COMPLAINT FORM

Thank you for contacting IOLERO. Our mission is to strengthen the relationship between the Sheriff’s Office and the community it serves through outreach and the promotion of greater transparency of law enforcement operations. We take our mission seriously and your complaint is important to us.

BEFORE YOU FILE YOUR COMPLAINT, PLEASE NOTE

  1. IOLERO accepts complaints against the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. IOLERO does not have jurisdiction regarding complaints against other law enforcement agencies, the courts, or the District Attorney’s Office.
  2. If you have criminal charges pending, we strongly recommend that you consult with your attorney before filing this form with our office.
  3. If your complaint includes a request for monetary compensation, you must request a “claim review” through Risk Management and/or a separate legal action for any relief you are seeking.
  4. You should review our website for additional information, especially the Tabs on our homepage entitled “File a Complaint about the Sheriff’s Office” and “Frequently Asked Questions.” You are welcome to contact our office anytime for help or with additional questions or concerns.

Anonymous Complaint. IOLERO accepts anonymously submitted complaints.  To file anonymously, leave the “Your Information” and “Your Contact Information” sections on the first page of the online form blank and instead write the word “ANONYMOUS” in the box for “last name”.  IOLERO will provide the complaint to the Sheriff's Office for investigation.  If you file the complaint anonymously, you should still provide an email address to which you want IOLERO’s communications to be sent (it can be a third party email address).  If you choose to not provide any email address, IOLERO will be unable to provide a copy of the complaint to you or follow up with you in the event additional information is needed to process or investigate the complaint.
