Disabled Veterans Preliminary Eligibility

Pursuant to California Revenue & Taxation Code 205.5, Sonoma County offers a written determination of preliminary eligibility for the Disabled Veterans and Low-Income Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption. The information provided in the letter is based upon the data provided by the individual, and the Sonoma County Assessor’s Office is not responsible for incorrect determinations based on incorrect information provided. To receive the exemption, , a valid claim with the appropriate documentation must be filed with the Sonoma County Assessor’s Office. Do you have the rating decision or summary letter from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs? (The Assessor’s Office is looking for the date of the rating and the date of notification to the veteran, as well as the percentage.) Value is not selected

The Assessor’s Office will not be able to process an application for the Disabled Veteran Exemption without the rating decision or summary letter from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
